Established in 1999 Ground Zero is the biggest BJJ academy in Melbourne CBD. We specialise in authentic Brazilian Jiu Jitsu and have branches in Melbourne CBD, Point Cook and Adelaide. What sets Ground Zero apart from most is that we teach original Gracie Jiu Jitsu, where there there is an equal emphasis on self defence, throwing and ground fighting, whereas many other academies ignore many of the key elements of the art.
With over 150 dedicated Jiu Jitsu students in the City Academy alone there are always plenty of people your grade to train with and to ensure quality tuition we have a variety of class times for you to choose from. If you are wanting to chat to any of our students drop by the academy and feel free to join the Ground Zero Facebook page - click HERE.

Testimonials
D.K (Website Designer) I was getting bored at the gym and was looking for an exciting way to get fit. I have lost so much weight and didn't think Id really be into the whole martial arts thing but Jiu Jitsu is incredibly interesting, I'm addicted!
S.R (Teacher) As a woman I wanted a practical martial art but didnt know much about Jiu Jitsu, I did my research and looked around but the culture at GZ is what Í really connected with, always supportive of beginners and no meat heads.
J.T (Personal Trainer) I had heard about BJJ through watching the UFC so looked around at various gyms but really liked the way Rob breaks all the movements down for us to understand biomechanically. He has a Sports Science background so designs the classes intelligently and the competition team results speak for themselves - were not the biggest team but virtually all of us won Gold medals which was the greatest feeling in the world!
M.M (Psychiatrist) Rob has a very good understanding of how to teach to different types of people. He really takes the time to explain things so we can all understand the principles and movements. I have trained in other academies around the world but I find that I am really starting to progress now as Rob is fussy about mastering the basics and always keeping in mind the practical aspects of the art.
Rob Williams (Head Coach) "We were all beginners once. We are all on the same ladder. I know who is above me on it and those who are below but we are all climbing. As long as you train intelligently you will always move up"
