Programs > Instructor Training

Learning to teach martial arts can bring a sense of pride and fulfilment. It is important to realise that grade alone doesn't make for a good instructor, at Ground Zero we recognise this and have created structure for students showing interest in becoming instructors. Early on, students are taught the mechanics of good instruction, giving them the tools to start honing their teaching skills and style.

Students from Blue or Purple Belt (depending on the individual) are given small teaching assignments under the instruction of the Head Instructor and are also provided with a detailed written assessment of their strengths and weaknesses. Once trained, and of sufficient grade, students can go on to run their own class or even their own clubs.

Ground Zero instructors are also trained by the Australian Sports Commission in coaching practices and guidelines specifically relating to Jiu Jitsu. These are nationally recognised and accredited. We are dedicated to providing all students with the best coaching/instruction available.
